Welcome to the Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site

The Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site brings to life the largest engagement of the Revolutionary War, fought on September 11, 1777, between the Continental Army led by General George Washington and the British forces headed by General William Howe.

The park has a Visitor Center with a museum and a gift shop. On the grounds of the park are both Washington's headquarters and Gilpin House. Bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds as you talk about one chapter in the book we call America.

This website features a specially created sequence of Driving Tours which trace the troop movements while allowing visitors to enjoy the rich diversity of offerings in the Brandywine region.
